EdTA Board of Directors Election

The Educational Theatre Association’s Nominating Committee actively seeks individuals to join the EdTA Board of Directors and forward the Association’s mission. All active EdTA members are eligible to complete a candidate vita form for election to the board.

In the first step of that process, the EdTA Nominating Committee has selected a slate of candidates for two board director positions who will each serve a three-year term.

The two Board Directors will be seated July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028.

As provided by the EdTA Code of Regulations, any active EdTA member is eligible to begin the process of petitioning to have their name placed on the ballot for consideration in the next election to open in February 2025.

EdTA Board Member Commitments

The EdTA Board of Directors meets face-to-face twice a year, in the spring and summer/fall, and for conference calls at least four times per year. Attendance is an expected aspect of board service. Newly elected board members are also expected to attend a series of training sessions held prior to the start of their term. Expenses to attend the face-to-face meetings are paid by the association.

In the event that an in-person meeting is impractical due to natural disaster, pandemic, or financial restraints, the Board of Directors may vote to convert an in-person meeting to an electronic meeting.

As leaders, there is an expectation of EdTA board directors to make a personally meaningful donation with a requested minimum amount of $500 annually. This can be paid “lump sum,” or pledged and paid in quarterly or monthly increments. It is best practice among nonprofit boards to encourage board donations. Having 100% participation of Board members as donors is an asset for EdTA when applying for grants. It also encourages Board members to have stewardship over EdTA’s finances like their own.
